The Discomfort Center need to have a skilled healthcare professional readily available to handle client referrals and emergencies. All health care service providers in a Discomfort Center must be properly certified in the nation and state in which they practice. The Task Force is highly dedicated to the concept that a multidisciplinary approach to medical diagnosis and treatment is the favored method of providing health care to clients with chronic discomfort of any etiology.Although the Task Force acknowledges that healthcare resources are not uniformly distributed throughout any nation or the world and that compromises will be needed, all healthcare suppliers should strive to attain the requirements set forth in this file for the care of clients with persistent discomfort. Health care service providers in pain treatment facilities should be encouraged and anticipated to be members of IASP and its national chapters in order to facilitate exchange of information and research activities.
